The Littleton Jazz Festival presents its 13th Annual concert, offering both a contemporary and a traditional jazz selection. Singer M. Carteret, backed by the Hank Troy Quartet, will begin the evening with “straight-ahead” selections from the more mainstream, with songs such as “Just in Time” and “I Remember You.” She is especially known for including songs that were performed by the legendary jazz singer Blossom Dearie.
On the second half of the program, the eight-piece Queen City Jazz Band, Denver’s premier traditional jazz (Dixieland) band, will entertain the audience. Established in 1958, the QCJB has regaled listeners across the country with the music of Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke, and others. The band features vocalist Wende Harston, who sings the songbook of the great female singers, such as Ma Rainey and Bessie Smith, who popularized jazz in the early years.
