ARTIST PREVIEW • MOLLY SQUIBB
LET’S GET TO KNOW YOU…
NAME: Molly Squibb
HOMETOWN: Larchmont, New York – although I’ve lived in Denver my entire adult life.
DAY JOB: Painting (at last!) is my day job.
ANSWER ME THIS…
THE GREATEST INVENTION IN HISTORY IS? There are too many fabulous inventions to name one!
WHERE WERE YOU IN 1958, WHEN THE GIRLS OF SPRINGFIELD HIGH WERE PERFORMING AT THEIR SENIOR PROM? OR IN 1968, AT THE WONDERETTES’ TEN-YEAR REUNION? In 1958, I was playing kick ball with neighborhood boys. In 1968, I was playing games with college boys!
TELL US ABOUT YOUR HIGH SCHOOL PROM? My prom was cancelled, for reasons I don’t remember. But I went to an all-girls boarding school run by nuns. Maybe they couldn’t relate to “prom.”
IF YOU COULD LIVE IN A DIFFERENT DECADE/ TIME PERIOD, WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE? If I could live in another decade, I’d live the 1960s over again. I had such fun! I came of age in that decade – one of remarkable, historical change.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PAINTING AND CREATING ART? I’ve been drawing since I was old enough to hold a pencil. I’ve been painting regularly since 2003.
WHO IS YOUR HERO? My longtime hero is Anne Morrow Lindbergh, writer and wife of the famous aviator. Reading her books taught me that you can be a quiet, introspective person and still accomplish wonderful things.
