The Colorado Premiere of this powerful, musical retelling of Lorraine Hansberry’s classic, “A Raisin in the Sun.”

Music by Judd Woldin | Lyrics by Robert Brittan | Book by Robert Nemiroff & Charlotte Zaltzberg Based on the play, A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry | March 22 – April 14, 2024

Be among the first people in Colorado to experience this soulful and inspiring musical about a proud Black family’s quest for a better life in 1951 Chicago. Three generations of Walter Younger’s family are living in a single, cramped apartment. But when Walter’s father passes away, and the family receives a substantial life insurance payout, grief gives way to hope. Walter wants to use the money to open a small business, while his mother wants to invest in homeownership outside the impoverished community in Southside Chicago, and to pay for her daughter’s medical school education. This timeless story of family conflict, forgiveness, and the pursuit of the American Dream was hailed by New York Times critic, Clive Barnes, as “…one of those unusual musicals that should not only delight people who love musicals, but might also well delight people who don’t.” Translation: Dear Human Being Reading This Brochure, This show is for YOU!

Town Hall Arts Center believes that communities who may otherwise not see themselves in our space must be radically invited in order to know that they belong and are welcomed here. We have committed the remaining seats of our performance on April 6th as a Black Out Night, prioritizing the purposeful creation of an environment in which a Black identifying audience can experience and discuss an event in the performing arts, film, athletic, and cultural spaces, with those who have had the same lived experiences. While we have already pre sold a limited number of tickets to our standing season ticket holders, we have committed the reamining 90% of our theater space to prioritizing members of the African Diaspora.

If you are a member of the African Diaspora and are interested in joining us for this event, please contact the Box Office at 303.794.2787 ext 5
