Rehearsals

July 28 – August 29, 2024
Generally Sunday through Thursday evenings. Some Sunday afternoons. There will also be two additional music rehearsals for the men cast as the Four Seasons as well as their swings to get a jumpstart on music. This will be scheduled once the show is cast, based on availability.

September 6 – October 6, 2024

Casting strong singer-dancer-actors ages 18+. People of all races, ethnicities, abilities/disabilities, and sexual/gender identities welcome and encouraged to audition. There are also Swing and Understudy tracks available.

All roles are paid a $500 rehearsal stipend and a per show rate between $60 and $70. Understudies will receive an additional rehearsal stipend. Swings are paid a $500 rehearsal stipend and $100 per week on-call stipend for the run, plus a per-show rate for any shows they cover.

No AEA/Equity contracts are available for this production.

Requirements

  • 32 bars of a pop/rock song from the 60s or 70s in the style of the show (No Musical Theatre).
  • Bring sheet music in the appropriate key; an accompanist will be provided.
  • 1-minute comedic monologue OR a story about yourself.
  • Headshot and resume (upload virtually prior to audition, and bring a hard copy to the audition).

Character Breakdown

Listed character genders indicate the gender that character identifies as but are open to performers who identify differently or as non-binary, as long as they are comfortable performing as that stated gender.

Frankie Valli (M)
Age: reads 20s – 30s
Vocal Range: Tenor (C4-G5) – strong Falsetto A tenacious, scrappy kid from a tough neighborhood with an unusually high, clear falsetto. Charismatic and charming; must be a strong actor (comfortable with narrative text and direct address) and have a gritty side as well as a polished veneer. Must be able to sing in the style of Frankie Valli, and must be very comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies. Strong mover.

Tommy DeVito (M)
Age: reads 20s – 30s
Vocal Range: Bari-Tenor (E4-G3)
A charismatic, smooth-talking operator with a quick temper who is a born hustler from a tough neighborhood and the essence of “Jersey” cool – an appealing, bad-boy quality. Must be a strong actor (comfortable with narrative text and direct address). A strong tenor/bari-tenor voice, must be very comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies. Strong mover. ABILITY TO PLAY GUITAR A MAJOR PLUS.

Bob Gaudio (M)
Age: reads 20s – 30s
Vocal Range: Tenor (B2-Ab4)
Boyish and fresh-faced, he is an intelligent, sensitive, and introspective musical prodigy beyond his years. Must be a strong actor (comfortable with narrative text and direct address). Must be comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies. Strong mover.

Nick Massi (M)
Age: reads 20s – 30s
Vocal Range: Bariton/Bass (C3-B3)
Steady, sturdy, lumbering man of few words, a police record, and a strong musical talent – maybe a touch od OCD. Must be a strong actor (comfortable with narrative text and direct address). Must be comfortable with four-part harmonies. Strong mover.

Ensemble Track: Bob Crewe and Others (M)
Age:  30s-40s
Vocal Range: Bari-Tenor
Intelligent and flamboyant. The genius, and eccentric, music producer and lyricist – quick-witted and a little sassy. This track plays multiple roles incluiding Bob Crewe and a mobster. Good movement ability.

Ensemble Track: Gyp DeCarlo and Others (M)
Age: 40s – 50s
Vocal Range: Bari-Tenor
Tough mafioso type – silent but deadly attitude indicative of his high position in the mob. This track plays multiple roles including the owner of a bowling alley. Character actor with good movement ability.

Ensemble Track: Barry Belson and Others (M) – Ideally BIPOC
Age: 20s – 30s
Vocal Range: Tenor with a strong falsetto This track will cover multiple roles including Barry Belson, the DJ who first put the Jersey Boys on the radio, as well as the French Rap star Yannick. Ability to riff in R&B style.

Ensemble Track: Norm Waxman and Others – Understudy: Tommy DeVito (M)
Age: 20s – 30s
Vocal Range: Bari-Tenor
This track plays multiple roles including Norm Waxman, and Charlie Calello who replaces Tommy. Must be comfortable with four-part harmonies. Ability to play guitar a major plus.

Ensemble Track: Joey Pesci and Others – Understudy: Frankie Valli (M)
Age: 20s – 30s
Vocal Range: Tenor (C4-G5) – strong Falsetto This track plays multiple roles including future Oscar winning actor Joe Pesci, and an audio engineer. Must be able to sing in the style of Frankie Vallie and be comfortable with four-part harmonies.

Ensemble Track: Hank Majewski and Others – Understudy: Bob Gaudio (M)
Age: 20s – 30s
Vocal Range: Tenor (up to High A)
This track plays multiple roles including Hank Majewski, a comedian/musician who joins the group for a short time, as well as Tommy’s accountant. Must be comfortable with four-part harmonies.

Ensemble Track: Mary Delgado and Others (F)
Age: 20s – 30s
Vocal Range: Alto/Belt
Wife of Frankie Valli and mother to their children – strong, independent woman from the neighborhood. Plays multple other roles. Strong singer/mover.

Ensemble Track: Lorraine and Others (F)
Age: 20s – 30s
Vocal Range: Mezzo/Alto/Belt
Frankie Valli’s girlfriend – a sophisticated journalist who is unlike the girls from the neighborhood. Plays multiple other roles including a French rapper. Strong singer/mover.

Ensemble Track: Francine Vallie and Others (F)
Age: 20s – 30s
Vocal Range: Mezzo/Alto/Belt
Franki’s rebellious daughter. This track plays multiple roles. Strong singer/mover.
